On the Snowy Rim Trail
After a November snowfall we chose to hike the Rim Trail and added an extension south to create a loop route, returning by the Sasquatch Trail. Blue skies and some low-lying cloud hung over Mt. Peter and Mt. Paul as we walked the Rim route.
All hikes in the Valleyview Nature Park (and beyond) are along benchlands, then down through gullies and back up, all in a grassland and sagebrush area of the silt cliffs.
Although the trails were covered in snow, they had been stomped in by walkers and hikers, not yet stomped down to be turned to ice with melt and freeze cycles.
Our figure-8 loop route was about 2.5 km, a shorter hike between longer ones in the week.
