Although this is an informal trail, it is easy to find and easy to follow.   The trail follows the shoreline of Kamloops Lake above the railway line to the Sabiston Creek area.    It is usually hiked in early spring when all other trails are still muddy or snowy.

Driving Directions:

  • Drive west on Highway #1 through Savona.    Cross the bridge and take the next right turn.   The road then splits, so take the left fork and continue to the cemetery where you can park.

Trailhead:

  • The trail picks up at a gate in the fenceline.
  • It is a single track for the entire distance.
  • It is an out-and-back route.    Turn around at any point.
  • Although the route goes to a ridge above Sabiston Creek, most hikers stop at the top of the ridge or they go out to the beach.
  • Any trip to the beach requires crossing the tracks so caution is important.
  • The distance is about 9 – 10 km, depending on the end point chosen.
