Paddling from Canoe Beach
There is a good boat launch from the wet end of Canoe Beach and we spend a couple of days of paddling in Salmon Arm (Shuswap Lake) in late spring. This was a busy boat launch area and on the Saturday of the May Long weekend it was the Zoo at Canoe. Dozens of boas were launching and heading out to the Narrows to see a Trooper Concert on a floathouse. We just hand launched off the beach and went the other way and had good paddling on the lake.
Across the arm is Bastion Mountain.
To the northeast is Herald Provincial Park where Reinecker Creek flows over Margaret Falls. It is a 5 km paddle to the beach at Herald.
We also paddled toward Sunnybrae and beyond into Tappen Bay.
From Canoe to the Salmon Arm Foreshore area and back is a 15 km round trip paddle. The entire shoreline of the Salmon Arm of Shuswap Lake is 56 km, requiring several days of paddling, launching out of boat launches and hand launches like Canoe, Herald, Harbour Road and others (more information).
