Winter Hiking on Pussywillow Lane
When conditions are right we hike the lower trails of our area all winter. One of the best routes is up the Pussywillow Lane Trail in the Dallas – Barnhartvale Nature Trails. There is parking at the end of Mountview Drive. The Pussywillow Lane Trail follows up gully up through the silt cliffs to benchlands. A network of trails with some gates connects the Nature Park to the Blackwell Trails.
The trail starts in the gully and works its way up through the sagebrush and silt cliffs to the benchland overlooking the South Thompson River Valley.
Across the river, Harper Mountain rises above Harper Ranch and Harper Ridge.
To the southeast Mt. Buse rises in the Robbins Range.
To the southwest Sunrise Mountain stands above Barnhartvale
A panorama of snowy slopes is the reward on the hike back down to the start. The loop was 5.5 km, about 1 hour and 40 minutes of winter hiking.
