Description:

Buse Hill is found within Buse Lake Protected Area.   The hike to the north-facing cliffs offer fine views for hikers.

Driving Directions:

Drive east on the Trans Canada Highway, then turn right at Dallas Drive, then turn onto Barnhartvale Road and follow it southeast for 7.7 km.   Turn right onto the signed Robbins Range Road.   At the second signed junction, turn left, staying on the Robbins Range Road.   Follow this dirt-gravel road for 5.3 km.   Park at the bottom of the double track heading up the hill on your left.   There is a posted sign there asking vehicles to stay on the roads.

Trailhead:

  • The trail starts as a double track going up the grassland slope bearing north.
  • There is no trail sign, but a posted sign from the Buse Creek Ranch asks hikers to stay on the trail.   It is at N50 35.973 W120 02.230.

Trail:

  • Follow the double track up the slopes until it braids into single tracks.  They all lead to viewpoints.
  • The Buse pinnacle is found to the far left.
  • The one way hike is 1.5 km.   If you traverse over to the pinnacle, a round trip of about 3.5 km is possible.
  • Be careful at the edge of the 200m high cliffs.
  • Return by the same route.
  • The trail can also be done in winter.
