Whitetail Lake lies in a valley in the Purcell Mountains about 28 km from Columbia Lake in the East Kootenays. Access is by the Findlay Creek Forest Service Road near Canal Flats. We paddled out of Kinsmen Beach on Windermere Park to the Athalmer Bridge, then downstream on the Columbia River to the wetlands and back on a warm day in early May.
