Sunset Viewpoint
A favorite hike in the area is on the western edge of Kenna Cartwright Park. We start just past the Corrections Facility and hike up to the Mesa Trail junction, then west to the end of the Sunset Trail where there is a fine viewpoint. The views extend in all directions, but what captures our eye is the expanse to the west. Some of rounded hills have names so we can identify them on a clear day.
To the north and northeast, the hills range back in layers into the distance.
Looking directly south into the sun, the Ironmask Hills were shrouded in winter mists.
Due east is Mount Dufferin, inviting us to hike the Ridge Trail.
We enjoy hiking the 3.4km loop any day the skies are clear enough to provide airy views.
