Trails Report – January 9th, 2019
Since I am out hiking or snowshoeing every day, i will summarize conditions out there from time to time:
Jack Gregson Trail – The trail is good for the first (west) half but blowdown, garbage, and trail deterioration on the east side makes the east end unpleasant. The beach on the west side is nice though, so hikers can still do a 2 km walk.
Middle Grasslands – We can hike through the sagebrush and grasslands of Lac du Bois setting our own route since the snow is not deep. Established trails are icy, though.
Sunset Trail (Kenna Cartwright) – very icy.
Kamloops Lake hills – good winter conditions for hiking although access remains an issue
Westsyde Beaches – dry conditions for a good walk along the Dunes area beach from Harrington Drive
Mara Trail – good conditions on the trail, but traction devices are suggested
Peterson Creek – some good conditions and some icy trails so traction devices are recommended
Bush Lake – okay for snowshoeing, but some areas are stomped in and hard.
In general, well-hiked trails are icy and routes through the grasslands/hills are good.
Posts on all these trails to come…
