Silver Light on Lac le Jeune
We paddled Lac le Jeune 6 times at the end of June, each time launching out of the Provincial Park Campsite.
Cloudy, bright skies led to silver light on the lake each day.
Each day featured a different loop under the grey skies.
The best paddle of the series was the one where I went under Lac le Jeune Drive, lying flat on my kayak to get under the little bridge, paddling into Little lac le Jeune.
The west end of the lake has extensive marshes with channels to explore.
Marsh wrens and red-winged blackbirds were busy in the reeds and rushes as my kayak quietly explored watery routes.
On the main lake snags and fallen pine trees litter the south shore.
In small bays along the shore, yellow water lilies were just coming into bloom.
With grey skies, cooler temperatures, and some rain, each day of paddling at Lac e Jeune was on a quieter lake with a handful of fishermen or other paddlers here and there. LlJ is one of our favorite paddling destinations.
