On Paul Lake Before the Squall
When rain is forecast we sometimes can paddle early, before the rain and wind starts. On this June day, I was on Paul Lake early and paddled up wind to the end of the lake.
A mother loon had 2 babies on its back when I paddled up the lakeshore, but when I got closer, the two little ones jumped into the water, then dove and swam underwater.
Paul Creek runs from Pinantan Lake down to Paul Lake and enters at the eastern end. A large rootstalk is now on the lakeshore near the inlet.
I got in to the launch before it rained but the wind and rain drenched the area before I had left the park. Even the loons headed for the shoreline when the weather set in.
