When I want a short easy hike I sometimes go to the Whiteshield trailhead of Peterson Creek Park.  Almost every time I turn onto the Grasslands Loop to enjoy the view and now I have  second reason to hike the trail.    There is a commemorative bench there to remember our friend Clive Giolma.   The view was one of Clive’s favorites.   I stopped here to honor Clive’s journey through life/

The short hike has views across the hills to the east.

To the north the North Thompson River winds down the valley to the confluence.

I dropped down to the Tom Moore Trail just below the canyon rim to do a loop route, returning back past the bench for a short Christmas Day hike.   I have 6 short hikes I rotate in my choices for days when the weather discourages more ambitious hikes so I will be back on this trail again soon.
