Not many people know that there are some fine trails between the west end of Valleyview and Rose Hill.   A series of single tracks used mostly by mountain bikers and dog walkers provides opportunities for hikers to create a loop route through sagebrush-grassland hills.   There are 4 access points to the trails and the one I prefer is off Rose Hill Road just before the trailer park.   Single and double tracks wind up through the hills.   My favorite route is to to go south to the foot of the steep section, then follow single tracks east, choosing routes that go north on an eclectic basis each time.   Almost the whole area is open sagebrush-grassland benchland with ridges and gullies.

To the north, Mount Paul and Mount Peter stand above the river valley.

Along the way I watched for the small surprises that await anyone who explores the hills, wrecks, wildlflowers, and the signs of spring emgerging.
