Gus Johnson Trail
A favorite summer-time trail is the route around Lac Le Jeune. Usually we start at the campground and follow the lakefront trail until it exits the campground at the east end gate. Following the road, we then turn onto the Forest Service Road and follow it until a signed cross country trail crosses at which point we turn off onto the Sidewinder Trail until the junction with the Gus Johnson Trail. We follow the GJ Trail south and then west around the lake all the way to the end of Lookout Road. Back on paved roads, we pass the lodge and return to the campsite by Rainbow Drive. This is a good hike taking over two hours on fairly level terrain. Swim in the lake at the campground on return.
