In 1976, Peterson Creek was the first area that I hiked when I arrived in Kamloops.    I lived in Lower Sahali and routes of Peterson Creek were the closest and the most intriguing trails that summer.   The lower entrance was well-established and the trails went to the canyon and up the sides, but the upper trails were not defined.    Most ventures up the canyon were exploratory, but over the first few months, the whole area was hiked.    Houses were not built up the hill so the upper part of the Peterson Creek Canyon was somewhat unknown.  

Since that time I have returned to hike the trails several times each year.  On this early April day we started on a higher trailhead, then followed secondary trails up the canyon.

Erosion ended this trail so some scrambling up the steep slopes was required, then we followed the Tom Moore Trail to the pond.

We returned the way we came, stopping for views and explorations of nature along the way. 

We hope to continue hiking in Peterson Creek past 50 years.
