CocoBonk Trail
The CocoBonk Trail climbs through the grasslands from Lundbom Lake towards Hamilton Lake, then up a grass track to join a dirt double track all the way to Tent Lake.
Although the section from Hamilton Lake to Tent Lake is all uphill, the grade and the surface is easy enough for bikers of reasonable fitness.
Along the way there are several side trails. We rode the Deja Vu Trail downhill. It wound across sidehills, past ponds, then finished with a long downhill. Wounded Knee veers west uphill right before Tent Lake.
At the highest point, the trail winds between some scenic lakes and ponds before starting a long descent downhill.
The route comes down through grasslands all the way to the Lundbom Lake level and joins the main road as it works its way back to the start.
To ride (or hike) the CocoBonk Loop, drive on the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to the top of the hill, then turn left (east) onto the Lundbom Lake Road. Park near Lundbom Lake and follow the double track that goes west to Hamilton Lake:
Although the trail is listed as a mountain bike trail, it would be a good hike too, covering about 13.5km. Much of the trail is in open grasslands so hikers would need to carry water since it would probably take about 4 hours. Bike or hike, this is a top-notch trail for outdoors enthusiasts.
