Bush Lake – North Loop
A recent article (link) provided details about access to the Bush Lake Trails. Further exploration north and south is an ongoing process, taking several days of on-snow time. On the north side is a good 6 km loop, suitable for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking.
Follow the main route around the north side of Bush Lake, then a north-heading double track that parallels the highway. This route winds through the forest and appears to end, but flagging tape marks a meandering route through the forest, continuing north, then east before coming back to another old track heading south to the parking area.
It had been skied and partly marked, but I added more flagging tape and I cleared some branches and deadfall. Snowshoers and skiers can follow the tracks and flagging tape for an enjoyable forested loop with easy access from the Lac le Jeune Road.
A loop on the south side has been explored/confirmed too, to be posted over the next week.
