A Sage Rain Dance
On the day that all highways were closed from the heavy rainfall and Merritt was evacuated because of flooding, there was a short break in the afternoon, so I brought pine needles and pine cones to recycle, then I hiked on the Sage Trail from the Bunker Road trailhead. The sun shone through a gap in dark skies. The trails in that area do not get muddy after a rainfall (unless the ground is frozen) so the trail was fine for hiking.
From the viewpoints the skies to the east had bright spots. 
It was raining in the North Valley, but the North Shore had a respite from the rains.
At about the halfway point in the loop hike, the weather moved in and soon the whole area was immersed in a downpour.
The Bunker Road Trailhead gives easy access to a number of moderate trails through the rocky hills. The loop around the outside trails and back is about 3.3 km.
I had purchased a new rain jacket (The Aquanator available at MEC) and it performed very well in the downpour. I could see that the Aquanator Pants would be the next good purchase.
