Orchard Lake Trails
The Orchard Lake Trail system is primarily used for horseback riding, but it is well suited to hiking and mountain biking too. Trails are in an area of open forests and meadows.
To access the trail system turn off Highway 5 in the McLure area onto the Orchard Lake Road (N51 02.248, W120 13.379). This is about 3 km south of the Ferry turn-off. Follow the road up for 2.5 km to the main trailhead at N 51 0.038, W120 12.856.
The Loon Lake Trail #1 is about 5.5 km, passing Orchard and Chalaforchie Lake, ending at Struthers/Loon Lake (at N 51 01.286, W120 11.070). The terrain is mostly flat. The Range Gate Trail (#2) is about 6.7km and has good viewpoints. The Coyote Lake Trail (#6) branches off the Chalaforchie Lake Loop Trail (#3) and is 7.2 km.
