There are several trails that follow the Adams River, all east of Kamloops.
Driving Directions/Trailheads:
- Drive east on the TransCanada Highway through Chase. At the end of Little Shuswap Lake, watch for the right turn at Squilax to go over the bridge across Little River and beyond to the road up the Adams River or over to the north side of Shuswap Lake.
- For the Flumes Trails, drive north on the Squilax – Anglemont Road for 2 km, then turn left on Holding Road. Continue for 5 km to the parking area on the left.
- For the Adams River Trail, do not turn left. Continue on the road and cross the Adams river Bridge, then turn left to the parking area (Wade Road).
- For the Roderick Haig Brown/Lower Tsutscewc Trails, cross the bridge and continue along the road for 1 km and turn right into the park (Tsutswecw Provinical Park).
Trails:
- The Upper Flumes Trails follow Bear (Hiulhill) Creek upstream. A loop route (3.5 km) can be hiked. Signs are provided along the way.
- The Lower Flumes Trails are across Holding Road. The trails go down the creek to Adams River, then along the rivershore. A loop route (1.5 to 2.4 km) can be hiked.
- The Adams River Trail follows the river upstream, up and back, but there is an upper trail that can be taken on the way back too for a 14 km hike. This is a beautiful hike in any month of the year.
- The Lower Trails are mostly used during the salmon run in the fall, but can be hiked in any month. There are several routes and all trails are signed. A loop of about 3.6 km can be hiked.
