On Paska Lake
There is a good boat launch at the Paska Lake Recreation Site for a high country paddle in summer. It is 8.6 km up the Paska Lake Road from the Meadow Creek Road (97D). A paddle around the lake is about 4 km.
There is a good marsh channel to paddle down and back on the southwest side of the lake. In late spring we can go farther than in summer when the marsh weeds block passage.
Water buttercups and water lilies were in bloom in the shallows.
The wind rose part way through the loop making for extra work back to the launch.
Paska Lake is one of many lakes on/near the Lac le Jeune Road and each summer we head up to paddle each one in turn – Jacko, Inks, McConnell, Stake, Lodgepole, Lac le Jeune, Paska, Face, Surrey, and more.
