We have spotted ptarmigans on top of several of the Coquihalla Summit peaks.   On a hike to the top of Zoa Peak in the snow on Thanksgiving weekend,  a single hen crossed the trail in front of us, stepping through 4″ of snow, foraging in the alpine.
