At times during the summer a toxic algae bloom can occur on area lakes.   Some cattle are killed and it can be dangerous for pets and people,   Right now there is a blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria) bloom on Tunkwa Lake, a good place to avoid for hikers, dog-walkers, paddlers, or fishermen until the danger is past.

It is likely in other lakes too.   i saw dead fish in Shumway Lake this week too.
