On a mid-November day, I hiked over to Rabbit Island from McArthur Island.     Access to the island requires wading through cold water.    I used a dry suit and neoprene boots to keep dry.    Once across, I changed over to regular hiking attire at the shoreline where there are some logs to sit on.  

I hiked around the island, stopping for the views, checking out various plants, noting tracks, and hiking along the river shore.   A few images are shared here.   Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption. 

The Thompson River was low so the beaches on three sides of the island extended north, south, and west.   

At the end of the loop, I changed back into the wading gear and crossed back over.   The entire hike is only about 5.4 km, but there are many possible spots to investigate and enjoy on the route.   I will be returning in late winter for another hike on Rabbit Island.
