On Dufferin Ridge
On a sunny December day, the route up the Tower Trail in Kenna Cartwright Park was snowy, but stomped down for good hiking.
From the east corner of the Tower Trail, there are wide views to the east.
The Ridge Trail follows the top of Mt. Dufferin Ridge from the communications towers west to the end of the ridge. Views at first are to the northeast.
Wider views can be enjoyed at more open spots on hilltops along the ridge.
There are also open views south and west, especially on a clear day.
At the end of the ridge a short steep downhill takes hikers to the Big Pine Trail. We can follow it back to the trailhead.
The loop route is about 5.5 km. The ridge hike section is a bit exposed on a cold and windy day, so if the weather is good, Mt. Dufferin Ridge is a excellent hike.
