On a sunny warm October day we traveled from Kamloops down to the Coquihalla Summit area to hike Zoa Mountain.    We turned onto the Falls Lake Road and parked at the trailhead.     The Zoa Trail is signed and we turned uphill through the “alder tunnel” to the upper track.  

From the upper track a sign points up to a steep single track which follows the ridgeline to the alpine.    In the sub-alpine area we had views north to the ridges of July Mountain. 

The Zoa Peak Trail is a colorful route in the fall with huckleberry, mountain ash, and other shrubs providing yellows, oranges, and reds.

The trail takes us to the northwest end of Zoa Peak where the views of Guanaco, Vicuna, and Alpaca Peak stand above Zum Peak to the west.  

A short side trail takes us out to a viewpoint of Yak Peak and the other peaks of the range – Nak, Thar, and Zopkios.   The 10 km route is out-and-back with lots of scenery along the way.    Some images are shared here.    Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
