The Clearwater River Road goes from Clearwater up the Clearwater River (west side) all the way to the Mahood River.   It is a bumpy 38.5 km gravel road, but it provides access to a number of scenic locations and some trails and routes to hike.

• km 5.4* – Entrance into Wells Gray Park
• km 8.1 – Trail to the Kettle
• km. 8.7 – A stone arch can be spotted across the river
• km 10.3 – Granite Rapids
• km 12.6 – The Shaden can be spotted in the lava cliffs above and across the river
• km 19.3 – Batholith Rapids
• km 21.4 – Sabre Tooth Rapids
• kms 25/29 – river access
• km 32.9 – White Horse Bluff view
• km 38.5 – end of the Road
• km 38.5 – Mahood River Trail (to Goodwin Falls, Sylvia falls, and Mahood Lake
• km 38.5 – Mahood River crossing (to Flourmill Volcanoes)

There are a number of hiking trails on the east side of the river with views down to the Clearwater River and some access points to the river’s edge. 

The Clearwater River Road has been closed past the 9 km mark at this time due to water damage.   Check the Wells Gray Provincial Park website for updates.
