Around the Six Mile Lakes
In mid April we hiked in the Six Mile Hill area, starting at Pat Lake. We hiked on a single track around the south side of the lake, then linked onto old double tracks through the hills.
The area on the south side of the lakes has rocky hills and seasonal ponds with old tracks winding through the dales. We followed tracks over to the west end of the lakes, passing by a number of streams and marshy areas.
Our route took us over to the west end of Morgan Lake where we stopped for lunch.
Our 7.2 km loop route went on game trails on the north side of Morgan Lake, then onto a double track back to Pat Lake. The whole route is a moderate one, but some navigating is required since there are many double tracks, single tracks, and informal trails. The two lakes are scenic spots and the route in general terms is to make a large circuit around both lakes. This is an area we hike every year. Spring is one of the best times to visit the Six Mile Lakes area.
