Red Hill Ramble
Red Hill stands on the east side of the Lac du Bois Road. An informal gate provides access to a trail around each side of Red Hill. There is also a faint single track to the top of the hill, a fine viewpoint of the lower grasslands. With a layer of snow on the ground I hiked around the north side of the hill to the large pond. I was able to hike across the icy pond. In other seasons, there are faint tracks that lead around either side.
On the east side of Red Hill Pond is a ridge and on the other side of that is another smaller pond, hidden away from view of hikers. The route was to the pond then around the south side of the ridge to create a loop route back around Red Hill. I was able to walk on top of the snow all the way. There were human tracks down to the first pond and around Red Hill, but only deer and coyote tracks to the east.

I will be back to hike the Red Hill Loop when the spring wildflowers are out.
