Peterson Creek Snowy Trails
After a fresh snowfall we had a half day of sunshine for a snowy hike in Peterson Creek Park before winter snow and cold temperatures returned.
It was icy under the freshly-fallen snow, but microspikes on hiking boots made hiking the trails enjoyable and rewarding. I saw other people wearing soft winter boots, but they are not supportive of ankles and feet on an uneven and slippery surface.
We hiked the benchland, then up the Tom Moore Trail.
These trails are well-used in winter, but extra precautions keep us safe – good boots, traction devices, poles, and winter layers.
We also saw some people snowshoeing, but usually that choice is for when there is more snowpack on the trails. We can continue to hike in Peterson Creek in boots for a while yet and especially when the weather provides a little sunshine.
