Tranquille River Fall Ramble
We spent some hours in the lower Tranquille River area on a video shoot with CFJC TV for a video to be published sometime soon. While walking and participating in the clips, I also took some photos and explored some short side trails. Right from the start there was lots of fall color along the trail.
A spring has created a marsh area next to the main trail. We spotted a muskrat and the pond was full of frogs’ eggs. Cattails and bulrushes surrounded the open water.
Large cottonwoods were festooned in golden leaves.
On the west side of the river, eroded hills were featured in low-angled sunlight above the colors of the river valley.
The river was rushing down to Kamloops Lake in the spring and early summer, but after a long, hot, dry season, the river was more like a stream.
One of the best fall walks in the fall in our area is along Tranquille River on a sunny day. Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
