Deja Vu and the Cocobonk
In late spring we travel to the Lundbom Commonage grasslands to hike the trails. Each year we try to take a different route. There are double tracks, mountain bike single tracks, and horse rider tracks and we can combine them to create a loop route. This year, we traversed from the west end of Lundbom Lake to Hamilton Lake then up the Cocobonk Trail. We turned onto Deja Vu and returned on the Cocobonk and then around the lake for a 13 km hike.
Some of the finest grasslands in the province are found in the hills to the west of Lundbom Lake.
When we hike through the hills there are aspen groves, treed slopes, ponds, streams, and meadows, all in the finest spring greens.
We picked a day before the mosquitoes arrived. In summer, the grasses grow taller and weeds produce seeds. It is still good hiking but the best time to hike the area is late May to mid-June.
We plan to return for another hike this year too once the fall colors arrive. This hike was a celebration of spring:
