Trails on the East Side of Lac le Jeune
Snow had fallen in the Lac le Jeune area so our hiking was all on about 8 cm of wet snow. We hiked 11 km on trails and routes on the east side of the lake. From the Ross Moore Forest Service Road, we hiked first on the Sidewinder Trail then the Gus Johnson Trail.
We hiked out to the east end of Lac le Jeune for the view.
An area of blowdown on the Gus Johnson Trail meant some detouring.
From the Gus Johnson Trail we turned onto an old double track that runs to the western shore of Ross Moore Lake, but we turned north onto the Fred Lake Road. An unmarked road winds to the shores of Fred Lake.
We continued past Fred Lake up to the southeastern end of the Stake Lake Trails, then followed the roads back to the start.
This route could be mountain-biked in 3 seasons or snowshoed in winter too. The forested route passes a number of small ponds and marshes and 3 lakes.
