East Rim Loop — 2 Comments

  1. Hi Doug,
Shelly from Whistler. This is such a pretty hike! Spring in all its varied greenery. I see you have been doing a lot of kayaking. I’ve mainly been fishing for my supper with mine.
But, alas, I’m on the injured list. A very sore sternum after a mishap along a big boulder field. I didn’t fall on it. It was just a 3 point maneuver between two boulder to get around a corner. Hard to explain the mechanism, but my hiking friends heard a pop and that was it. Thank goodness it was an easy local hike.
And I’ve decided to work through it. I took a few days off and being sedentary just made me seize up. I just have coworkers take on moves I know will hurt. I can pul broken wrists back into place but I can’t do anything that makes me push. …whine, whine, whine. We see much worse in our beds.
6 weeks and I’ll be back at it. I turned down a hike yesterday because hiking poles are not my friends now, and we would have been snowshoeing. But the season is young and I want to be able to carry a pack so I’ll do the down time.
Hope you are all well and that Kamloops is opening up. We are. Our ER has gotten somewhat back to normal. Hotels have opened as well as retail and restaurants. And Vail is hinting at opening up the downhill bike park as well as hiking up top of Whistler and Blackcomb. I’ll believe it when I see it as rumors are rampant these days.
So far people are behaving themselves and we have no covid showing up at our doors.
    Take care, Shelly

  2. Hi, Shelley – Good to hear from you, bit I am sorry to hear about your injury. I hope it heals soon.
We are getting into the south-facing subalpine now and will be in the alpine in 3 weeks. Hiking is good up here and we have many outings planned for the summer.
    Take care,
    d
