Sage – Panorama – Arnica Trails
When we are looking for a shorter moderate hike with fine views, we sometimes head to the Sage area trails. The trailhead is a parking area in behind the recycling area off Bunker Road. All of the trails are signed and easy to follow. There are a number of possible routes to take, but on this day I hiked the Sage Trail, then left the trails to wind on the rim of the cliffs on the northwest side before coming back to the Panorama Trail then again taking a direct route off-trail to link up with the TRU Connector. The final part of the 3.4 km route linked the Anica Trail back to Sage Trail.
From the edge of the bluffs on the Panorama Trail there are open views west past the airport toward Battle Bluff and Kamloops Lake.
To the north (and below) is Rabbit Island. Mt. Peter and Paul and the Dome Hills lie northeast.
A few snags and some small trees dotted the rocky hills overlooking the River Valley.
This is a good route if the weather is marginal or you only have a short period of time to get in a hike. The views are worth it.
