Mount Vicars Trail
Mt. Vicars is a cone-shaped hill on the north side of Scuitto Lake. We can follow ATV tracks for part of the route up the hill, then it is just a steep climb to the top, a total of 3.5 km (round trip).
The route starts at the new Scuitto Lake B.C. Recreation Site on the shores of the lake.
At the end of a longer bay on the northeast corner of the lake, an ATV track goes up the draw. The best route is to follow this track for about 0.5 km (ignoring other tracks), then turn left and follow a motorcycle track bearing northwest following the line of the ridge. It becomes steep and ends in an area of rocky bluffs.
The final section is a light scramble through the rock bluffs to the summit. All of Scuitto Lake can be seen below one of the viewpoints.. An arm of Campbell Lake can also be spotted to the east. The treed hills of Wild Horse Mountain and Scuitto Mountain lie to the south. The Monte Hills stand above all to the east. Forested slopes extend in every direction. Return by the same route, taking care on the rock bluffs and the deadfall along the route.
