There are no trails or roads into the Charlotte Alplands.   Access is mainly by floatplane from Nimpo Lake or for a few, by rough horsepack routes from Charlotte Lake.  We flew into Fish Lake and hiked around the Fish – Frog Lake area then hiked out past Cowboy Lakes.   There are other ways to get into the Charlotte Alplands for wilderness hiking.

Tweesdmuir Air can land at Nuk Tessli on Whitton Lake and the cabins can be used as a basecamp for hiking.   There is also a cabin on Wilderness Lake, operated by Nimpo Lake Lodge.   One Eye Outfit does a guided packtrip into the Three Sisters Alpine area above McClinchy Lake.  Backpackers could make their own way into the area, but route-finding and lots of wilderness experience would be essential.

Chris Czajkowski’s 11 books on life in the Charlotte Alplands (Nuk Tessli) are not only a good read, but also a good guide to what to expect in the remote high country wilderness of the Northwest Chilcotin.   We enjoyed our first time into the Charlotte Alplands and hope to return.
