Duffey Lake Road
The Greenstone Mountain road climbs up through grassland slopes for 2.4 km to a junction. The route on the left goes southeast and climbs up the mountain. The route on the west goes past some small lakes on the benchland, then climbs through the forest to Duffey Lake. We mountain biked along this road in early April.

A new BC Rec Site is now located a short way along the road. The Pendleton Creek site is designed for ATV riders, but is open to all campers.
Beaton Creek runs off the hill from lakes off the high plateau on its way down to Beaton Lake. Numerous tracks go off into the forest on both sides. A map of the main routes can be found at this link – Duffey-Greenstone OHV Rec Brochure.
On a previous visit to Duffey Lake in the late afternoon, the setting sun cast its light on the shores near the campground.
The campsite was empty on that day and the lake was quiet, but it is a busy place once the OHV season starts.
The first 7.3 km climbs 181m. Beyond this point, the road climbs steeply gaining another 221m in the next 3.3 km. The road was snowy and steep at the 7.3km point so we turned back for a 14.6 km ride. If we had carried on, we would have reached a junction at 10.6km. The left fork climbs up to Dairy Lake. The right fork goes over to Duffey Lake at 11.2 km from the start. For mountain bikers, off-season is a good time to ride these roads. They are much busier and noisier once the motorized season starts.
