Batchelor Hill Mine Loop
The treeless hills on the west side of the Lac du Bois Road provide good hiking in the early season. We parked at the gate and turned up on a single track that climbs between two summits of Batchelor Hill.
The final uphill section is a steep climb to the Batchelor Hill Mine area.
From the top of the hill views extend west over the Barren Hills.
The views east go over to the Batchelor Range.
We chose to come back down and drop into Batchelor Pass on the north side. Decades ago, there was a pond here every spring. It was almost dry in February this year.
From Batchelor Pass we followed a single track around the hill to the south through the sagebrush, then double tracks back to the parking area.
Turn off Lac du Bois Road 0.6 km past the ATV area and park near the gate.
Up through the pass to the northwest side of the hill, then up to the top past the mine diggings.
Down the back side to the junction and a left turn into the pass.
Around the hill on single tracks.
