Robbins Range Ride
Although the backroads of Campbell Range and Robbins Range are perfect for riding, the long hill up to the top is a big challenge, a big 625m (2000 feet) elevation gain over 5km. So, we chose to park a vehicle at the bottom and drove the rest of the bikes and riders to the top, starting at the edge of the grasslands fields. We followed the Campbell Range Road around the loop and down to the Robbins Range Road. We turned left at the junction and followed it all the way down to the bottom.
The Campbell Range is all fenced properties around pastures, ponds, and aspen groves. We passed by some old abandoned buildings and cars, a good opportunity for a break or a photo. As we dropped out of the Campbell Range, we entered douglas fir forest, but much of this is being cleared for pasture land as the community expands into the hills. This is a good place to watch for wildlife. As we passed Mt. Buse, the descent became a quicker ride and we arrived down at our vehicles after biking 20km, most on level or downhill roads. This is a scenic and peaceful ride at any time of the year, one to be repeated each year.
