Lower Rose Trails
Some trails that are not well known are right within the City. The Lower Rose Trails are a combination old double tracks and newer single tracks. Our recent hike on these trails was 6km.
To access these trails, park near the end of Orchard Road (lower left above) or near the trailer park on Rose Hill Road. There are almost no trees in the area so the tracks are fairly easy to see and you will likely be creating your own route. The silt-clay hills are covered in grasses and sagebrush. Grasslands birds and seasonal widflowers may await you as you explore the ridges and gullies.
Views extend across to Mt. Paul-Mt. Peter and up and down the valley. We try to hike these trails for a 1.5 hour outing in the spring or fall. Another trail system to explore right in our backyard….
