Dewdrop – Red Plateau Loop Ride
This interesting ride is 32 km of backroads, with one long 5km hill. It can be done in either direction, but for this article, it is described in a clockwise direction and starts from the Dewdrop Trailhead.
Directions:
- Drive up the Red Lake Road and turn onto the Frederick/Dewdrop Road.
- Drive 650m down the road and park in the parking area on the north side.
First Leg:
- Drive along the Dewdrop Range Road and at the intersection 2.7 km ahead, keep right.
- Follow the upper track for 4.1 km. Take the upper track for another 2.0 km.
- This is a good place to stop for a drink. N50 46.311 W120 39.359
- follow the upper road which is rougher and steeper
- climb 528m over 5.7km
- stop for breaks, as needed and enjoy the views
- the top is crested near a logged area N50 48.352 W120 40.167
- the top of Red Plateau is relatively flat
- bike for about 10.5 km on a good backroad, then start a 3.3 km downhill
- at the junction with the Red Lake Road, bar right and return down to the Frederick Road and your vehicle (3.6 km)
This will be a hard ride for almost everyone so get those bike legs ready early in the season.
