Upper Timber Tour
The Upper Timber Lake area is one of our favorite areas to snowshoe. In winter, there is rarely anyone around, but the backroads are fine for stomping. We have described the route in to the trailhead before (link to a previous article).
The Timber Lake FSR is in good shape right now, but there are times when 4WD may be needed. Parking varies, but there is usually room for a couple of vehicles right next to the trailhead, which starts as an access road to the communications tower on top of the hill. We veer left at the first junctions and often extend our outing farther up the hill before looping back. Once over the hill, the quiet forest awaits us. Follow our tracks on a tour through the Upper Timber Lake area.
