Bush Lake South Loop
This is the third article on the Bush Lake Trails detailing access and routes for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and hiking. Links to the two previous articles are provided here:
- Bush Lake Trails
- Bush Lake (North) Loop
- The parking area is the same for all routes (N50 32.418 W120 26.776), at a designated parking area just off the Lac le Jeune Road.
The South Loop route is a 4.2 km loop which goes down to the drainage for Bush Lake, then climbs over a hill. Near the crest, the old road splits in two. The left fork ends in a reforested area about 0.7km to the south. The loop route is the right fork which goes over the hill and down to the Coquihalla. At the bottom of the hill, watch for a track (flagged) which goes north along the line of forest all the way to Bush Lake. This section parallels the highway for 0.65 km, before picking up an old track going northeast back to the end of the lake. The whole route is well-stomped in now and will be obvious for a few weeks.
On this day, we saw deer, rabbit, and moose tracks. We spotted another track worth exploring, an invitation for another day.
