Snowshoe Routes: Upper Timber Lake
The second in a series of articles on Snowshoe Routes in the area.
Vehicle access to Upper Timber Lake:
- Drive south on the Lac le Jeune Road
- Turn onto the Timber Lake Road
- this is an unsigned road, but is the first road past the ranch (turn at N50 34.443 W120 25.977)
- this is an active logging road so the road is kept plowed in winter
- follow the road for 2km, passing through a tunnel under the Coquihalla
- the road then parallels the highway going north to Timber Lake
- park at the side of the road only 100m past the tunnel
- note the power line going up the hill west, our route
Upper Timber Lake Route:
- follow the power line up the hill
- the power line goes to communications towers on top of the hill
- to the top of the hill and back is 3km
- a recommended loop is to go to the top first, then turn south along a good double track on the way back
- various loops are available, some of which follow the old Bush Lake Cross Country Ski Trails
- the route in blue is 2.5km
Upper Timber Lake:
- a moderate climb when travelling west or southwest
- a network of trails for exploration
- a quiet forested area with some good viewpoints
