Snowshoe Routes: Hull Hill North
A series of articles will be posted to this site featuring snowshoe routes of the area. Some of the prerequisites for a good snowshoe route include:
- road access to the high country
- parking at or near the trailhead
- lots of snow (south-facing slopes and lower areas can be hiked)
- routes cant be driven on
- easy-to-follow routes
- field work done to explore and confirm the routes
Vehicle Access to Hull North:
- drive south on the Lac le Jeune Road
- turn onto the Goose Lake Road
- there is parking for 2-3 vehicles at the turn-off 300m down the road
- in slippery or snowy conditions, park back at the Goose Lake Road turnoff and walk down the road for 300m
- the backroad snowshoe route angles off to the southeast (at N50 33.489 W120 25.810)
The Hull North Trails:
- follow the backroad for as long as you choose to go on an out and back route
- a loop is possible, but you will need to climb and route-finding will be required
- a junction is found at the 750m point
- the route to the right (Hull Southwest) leads into a logged area, but can be followed for 3.1km, a total of 7.7km return
- the route to the left (Hull North) goes on for a long ways and has many side routes
- the blue line below shows a 3km out route; the yellow line continues on for another 2.25km
- it is possible to create a loop route by continuing along the gas line, a total of about 11km
Hull North:
- rolling double tracks in the forest
- many side tracks for exploration
- on the north flank of Hull Hill
- quiet and remote
