Duck Range Rides
The Duck Range Road runs from Prithcard to Highway 97. It is paved at the east end, but is dirt/gravel at the west end. It is suitable for both road bikes and mountain bikes and is a scenic tour. The Lower Duck Range Road is all dirt and is in good shape at the east end, but after passing a few ranches, the road becomes rough, not 4WD, but a slow drive and since there is only bush, there are no vehicles. It is a good area for mountain biking or trail running, similar to the Inks Lake Roads. A simple loop would be to park at either end and bike the two Duck Range Roads. Exploring the hills to the north also provides some nice views. The road up to the tower on top of the hill is driveable and the views are worth the uphill climb. The old track that loops around the hill and back to the highway is a 4WD track, but fallen trees make a few detours, fine for mountain bikes, but it keeps the vehicles out of the area. The Duck Range Road loop is about 15km, but if the other tracks are added in, there is up to 22 km of riding and exploring. You may encounter some ATVs or off-road bikes, but on the whole the area sees little traffic, except on the main Duck Range Road. The area is yours to explore.
