Barnhartvale-Blackwell Trails
A trail network connecting Barnhartvale and Dallas has developed over last decade, with hikers using either the Eliza Road trailhead or the Dallas Drive (lower) trailhead in an areas called the Dallas-Barnhartvale Nature Park. We have not had an accurate map up to now, although there have been paper copies available from time to time. In the last few years, the Barnhartvale Horse and Hiker Trail Preservation Society has received some grant funding and has expanded the trail network over to Blackwell Road. We have hiked these trails but have been looking for a good trail guide and friends recently provided a hard copy which was scanned and used an overlay onto Google Earth, using the Custom Maps feature.
Although the map below is not as clean and clear as we would like it to be, some additional work will be taken to improve the on-line map quality (maybe the BHHTPS will do this first). There are a number of secondary trails too which are not marked so the updated map will take a little time and additional data collection.
The new trails are best accessed off Eliza Drive. There isn’t much parking at the Blackwell Gate. Close all gates behind you. Enjoy the trails.
