Sovereign Lakes
One of the best cross-country ski networks is at Sovereign Lakes on Silver Star Mountain. It lies within Silver Star Provincial Park so it has a nice balance of trail and infrastructure development and recreational wilderness. Even if you have cross-country trails in your area, a trip to Sovereign Lakes is worth a day or a weekend.
Take the turn-off from the Silver Star Road. The road can be a bit steep and narrow, but it is usually plowed and sanded. Nevertheless front-wheel drive or 4WD help on snowy days. There is a good parking lot, a day lodge and a warming hut out by Black Prince. There is a wide variety of trails in the area and you can find a flat or a challenging route.
A recommended loop is Passmore – Mystery – Black Prince – Mystery – Woodland Belle.
