Winter Corridors: Hull Hill Northeast
We talked about backroads as winter corridors into the forest and how little information is available. A series of posts will offer a few routes over the winter:
Hull Hill North
We recommend this route for a number of reasons. First, there is a good road to the “trailhead.” Drive south on the Lac le Jeune Road and turn onto the Goose Lake Road. Park near the fence or further down the road (300m).
Follow the road for 600m. It comes to a junction of two roads and two creeks. Anderson Creek flows through the gully to your right. The route to the right (south) climbs into a logged area, goes past an old cabin, then peters out after about 2 km. The route to the left climbs a small hill then winds east, then south east with a few sideroads here and there. The route can access the backroad network off the Edith Lake Road, the McConnell Lake FSR, and Hull Hill. For the winter season, though, just follow the road out and back, following your own tracks back in the snow. The forest through here is very quiet and there are various route options for a return visit.
