Upper Outer Dewdrop
In order to do these hikes/explorations, a hiker will need to drive the Upper Dewdrop Road and continue to stay high. The road is a bit rough, but not 4WD. As it climbs into a steep valley, it turns north and follows a gully all the way to the top of Red Plateau. There are some eroded sections on the steeper part of the road and therefore 4WD and high clearance is recommended. Alternately pull off to the side at one of many pullouts and hike up the old road. We used N50 36.920, W120 40.276 as a point to strike off the road hiking to both adjacent hills.
There are two prominent hills that can be accessed from this steeper section. The recommended hike/scramble is Rousseau Hill which has a ridge shape, running north south. The view from the top is one of the finest in the area and it is a reasonably easy off-trail climb.
There is a tall hoodoo that stands on the south slopes of Rousseau Hill. Take some time to explore the hilltop in each direction. Return by the same route. Another hill, sometimes called the Obelisk, can be scrambled up to the top, north of Rousseau Hill.
